CSM Marcus L. Jones was born in Hays, Kansas and enlisted in the Army in September 1989. He completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He went on to Fort Gordon, Georgia where he completed Advanced Individual Training as the honor graduate and was awarded the Military Occupational Skill classification 31M – Multi-channel Communications Systems Operator.

From there he attended basic airborne training at Fort Benning, Georgia. CSM Jones duty assignments include: Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Taylor Barracks, Germany; MacDill Air Force Base, Florida; Patch Barracks, Germany; Fort Riley, Kansas; Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado; and his most recent assignment in Grafenwoehr, Germany where he is served as the 44th Expeditionary Signal Battalion CSM.

CSM Jones’ operational and combat deployments include Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia and Iraq; Operation Joint Guard/Joint Forge in Hungary and Bosnia; Operation Joint Guardian in Macedonia and Kosovo; Operations Desert Fox and Iraqi Freedom I in Kuwait; Operation Enduring Freedom in Pakistan; and Operations Iraqi Freedom 9 and New Dawn in Iraq. CSM Jones has graduated the basic Airborne School, Advanced Airborne School, Air Assault Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate), 25th Infantry Division Masters Course, Military Operations In Urban Terrain Course, Unit Movement Officer Course, Army Basic Space Cadre Course, Satellite Communications Electromagnetic Interference Course, Space 200, Primary Leadership and Development Course, Basic Non-commissioned Officer Course (Honor Graduate), Advanced Non-commissioned Officer Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate and Leadership Award), U.S. Army First Sergeant Course, Air Force First Sergeants Academy, and the Sergeants Major Course Class 58 (Commandant’s List).

CSM Jones received a Associate’s Degree in General Studies from Central Texas College and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from Park University.
